THE HEARTBEAT OF CAMP
Camp Evergreen Staff

Top-Notch, Christ-Centered Role Models
We take the role of shepherding and nurturing campers in their summer camp experience—and more importantly, their faith—seriously. Our counselors are energetic, fun-loving, Christian college students who have been carefully interviewed and chosen based on their character and mentorship abilities.
Many of the Camp Evergreen staff members are campers who fell so in love with Evergreen that they had to find a way to continue to come back summer after summer.
Campers are placed in a cabin with at least one Counselor and one Junior Counselor or Counselor-in-Training for a ratio of at least two staff members per eight campers. With no more than 100 overnight campers at a time and a 4:1 camper-to-staff ratio, we are truly a place where “everybody knows your name” and no one gets lost in the crowd.

Equipping & Training Staff
Application Process
We are deeply committed to the safety of our campers and have a thorough hiring process—including an extensive application, background checks, drug testing, references and in-person interviews—to ensure our staff are rooted Christian role models.
Abuse Prevention
Through monitoring, reporting procedures and thorough training, we integrate abuse prevention throughout our entire camp environment. All staff complete Stewards of Children Training—a trauma-informed sexual abuse prevention curriculum—during staff training and during each of our sessions, we enforce camper supervision policies to ensure that no staff member is ever alone with a camper, and that campers are never left unattended or alone with other campers.
We aim to exceed national safety standards and are deeply committed to protecting our staff, volunteers and campers from any and all types of abuse.
Certifications
During staff training prior to the opening session of camp, all Counselors are trained in CPR and First-Aid—and are equipped to assist with the inevitable bumps and bruises of spending time in the great outdoors. Our 24/7 on-site licensed nurse also leads all medical care out of our Infirmary.
We also have several certified lifeguards on staff—allowing for four lifeguards monitoring the waterfront at all times.
Emergency Preparedness
Even for situations we hope will never happen, we want our administrative team and staff to be prepared. From monitoring weather and plans to take shelter to emergency planning for an on-site event, we train and equip our staff to execute all safety protocols and procedures should anything happen.

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It

JOIN US FOR
An Incredible
Summer Experience
You only have a few summers as a college student, so make this one purposeful by investing in the lives of the next generation and spending all summer in the great outdoors. In addition to our overnight camp and day camp offerings, we dedicate almost half of our summer to serving scholarship campers. For three weeks we offer the same exact camp experience to some of the kids who need it most—at no cost to their families.
What to Expect
Whether you’re screaming for joy as you jump off the blob, you’re cheering on your campers as they try something new, or you’re feeling the peace of immersing youself in nature, every moment of every day at camp is filled with countless opportunities to laugh with, encourage and positively impact the life of a child. With no more than 100 overnight campers at a time, we are intentionally small and care about fostering deep relationships. Camp Evergreen simply feels like family! And we’d love for you to join us—you’ll make lifelong friendships and be changed for the better.

Camp Evergreen accepts applications for the upcoming summer beginning in November and going through March—with additional applications accepted through May, as needed.
Create an account and apply and be prepared to share both email and phone numbers for personal references during the application process.
Once your application is complete and we’ve received your references, we’ll reach out to schedule an interview.
Job offers are sent via email at the beginning of April and staff members will have several onboarding tasks to complete before arriving at camp, including filling out waiver forms and tax forms.
Staff training takes place the weekend prior to the opening of camp each summer.
-
To ensure a consistent, thoughtful environment for our campers, we don’t permit staff members to arrive late to a session or leave early.
We ask that Leadership candidates be available to work the entire summer.
Cabin Counselor candidates should be available to work at least half the summer.
High school candidates can apply to work session-by-session as it suits their summer schedule.

Our staff members are energetic and fun young men and women of character, honesty, integrity and faith whose utmost goal is to help instill these values in those around them. As a member of the Camp Evergreen staff, your mission is simple; to love our campers and positively impact their lives. We’re looking for:
Servant hearts. While there will be so many exciting adventures and individual benefits, being on staff at Camp Evergreen also means long hours, hard work and dedication. We know this job will be challenging and at times exhausting, but an unyielding commitment to our campers from every individual staff member is essential.
Thoughtful role models. In our cabins, we seek to encourage respect for others, a sense of belonging, and family-like support for one another. As a staff member at Camp Evergreen, we expect you to lead by example – putting others first, living selflessly and prioritizing the needs of our campers above all else.
Character shaped by faith. Each of our staff members is held to the highest possible standard. We hire only trustworthy and caring individuals who demonstrate the desire to follow God’s plans for their lives on a daily basis.
