We are deeply committed to the health and safety of our campers and staff. From 24-hour on-site medical care, staff background checks and screening to abuse prevention and CPR certifications, we want every parent to rest assured that we treat each camper with the utmost care. at Camp
-
We are deeply committed to the safety of our campers and have a thorough hiring process—including an extensive application, background checks, drug testing, references and in-person interviews—to ensure our staff are rooted Christian role models.
-
Through thorough training, vigilant monitoring and careful reporting procedures, we integrate abuse prevention throughout our entire camp environment. All staff complete Stewards of Children Training—a trauma-informed sexual abuse prevention curriculum—during staff training and during each of our sessions, we enforce camper supervision policies to ensure that no staff member is ever alone with a camper, and that campers are never left unattended or alone with other campers.
We aim to exceed national safety standards and are deeply committed to protecting our staff, volunteers and campers from any and all types of abuse.
-
At Camp Evergreen, we take a comprehensive approach to your child’s health and wellness at camp—from hygiene checks and hydration stations to a preventative approach to sanitizing and disease control.
Our 24/7 on-site licensed nurse reports to a local pediatrician and manages everything from dispensing medication and managing allergies to addressing the inevitable bumps and bruises of spending time in the great outdoors. In addition to all Infirmary operations, our college-age staff are also trained in CPR and First Aid.
Camp Evergreen abides by all medical policies set forth by state regulations and the American Camp Association (ACA):
Medication is distributed at breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime.
All prescription medication must be brought in prescription containers for the specified camper.
Please do not send vitamins or dietary supplements unless prescribed by a doctor.
Over-the-counter medications are given at the discretion of the camp medical staff.
-
We take water safety seriously. Upon arrival at camp, all campers are required to take a swim test. Campers are then given a swim bracelet that indicates their skill level and what lakefront elements will require a life jacket.
At Lake Deann’s waterfront, we have four certified lifeguards on duty alongside three additional staff monitoring the waterfront at all times. Campers also participate in swim buddy checks every 15 minutes.
-
Even for situations we hope will never happen, we want our administrative team and staff to be prepared. From monitoring weather and plans to take shelter to emergency planning for an on-site event, we train and equip our staff to execute all safety protocols and procedures should anything happen.
-
Participation in the Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) provides ongoing guidance and training for best practices in all aspects of camp operation—particularly those related to program quality, risk management, and the health and safety of campers and staff. These standards establish guidelines for needed policies, procedures and practices. The camp is responsible for ongoing implementation of these policies.
In addition to adhering to CCCA guidelines, Camp Evergreen implements best practice guidelines as set forth by the American Camp Association (ACA).
